WordPress 4.5 is expected to be released on April 12. This version comes with a wide range of exciting features like responsive preview of your site in the customizer, image optimization, support for theme logo, inline link editing and some additional editor shortcuts.
This responsive preview option in the customizer allows you to see how your site looks in mobile, tablet and desktop. This ensures that the front-end user experience is exactly as intended.
Theme Logo Support
This feature will allow a theme to declare support for a custom logo for your site. You can then customize this logo via the Customizer.
Inline Link Editing
This feature allows you to edit links inline for a smoother workflow.
Additional Editor Shortcuts
WordPress 4.5 includes a few new shortcuts for making text bold and wrapping it inside code tag. Multiple dashes will also change to “hr” while typing.
Comment Moderation Improvements
An enhanced experience when moderating comments, including preview with rendered formatting.
Optimization of Image Generation
Image sizes are generated more efficiently and remove unneeded meta, while still including color profiles in Imagick, for reduced sizes of up to 50% with near identical visual quality.
There have been some changes for developrs as well.
Selective Refresh is a comprehensive framework for rendering parts of the customizer preview in real time.
Backbone, Underscore and jQuery updated to latest versions
Backbone is upgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.2.3, Underscore is upgraded from 1.6.0 to 1.8.3 and jQuery is upgraded from version 1.11.3 to 1.12.2. At the same time jQuery Migrate, the plugin to detect and restore APIs or features that have been deprecated in jQuery, is upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.4.0.
Embed templates were split into parts and can now be directly overridden by themes via the template hierarchy.

wp_add_inline_style() works for CSS, and better support for script header/footer dependencies.
