In this article, I will show you how you can easily install WordPress on Bluehost and get started with your website.
Set Up Your Bluehost Account
In order to get started, click on the Get Started Now button on the Bluehost home page here.
Select a web hosting plan suitable for you. If it’s a new site I would recommend their basic plan first. Next, you need to choose a domain name for your website. If you already own a domain name, you can enter it in the I have a doman name field. You will just have to go through a few extra steps to make sure tp get your DNS point to Bluehost. Bluehost is currently offering a free domain with any new WordPress hosting account purchase. So If you don’t already have a domain name, you can get one for free in the signup process.
Once you have entered your domain name, you will need to fill in your personal information.
You can still choose the hosting package you want on this page. All of their shared hosting plans have 12, 24 and 36-month terms. It’s always better to go for a longer term so your monthly rate is cheaper. For example, If you go on a 36-month term, you will get an amazing rate of $2.95/month. But if it’s a 24-month term the rate goes up to $3.95/month. The good thing is you don’t always have to be on their shared hosting account. If you need more resources on the server (when your traffic starts to increase or you need more functionality) you can request them to upgrade it to a VPS or dedicated hosting account.
Bluehost offers extra add-ons/services at signup that you can include in your hosting account. For example: Domain Privacy, a paid service that allows personal information to be kept private on WHOIS databases.
After you have filled in your personal and payment information click the Next button to complete your purchase. You will then be asked to create a password for your account. You can use this password to login to your Bluehost account.
Once you complete the signup process and are able to log into your account, you can get started with installing WordPress.
Bluehost WordPress Installation
Bluehost has built-in integration with MOJO Marketplace which allows you to install WordPress and other applications very easily from your cPanel.
Simply scroll to the section called MOJO Marketplace in your cPanel and select the One-Click Installs button. This will take you to a MOJO Marketplace page called Scripts and Platforms where you can click on the WordPress icon.
This will open the WordPress installation window. Click on the Start button to start your WordPress installation process.
Step 1: Choose where you want to install WordPress. This can be any domain on your account or a subdomain or folder for one of your domains.
Step 2: Click on the Check Domain button to make sure the domain is correctly assigned to your hosting account. You may get a warning that you are overwriting files. You can ignore that as long as you don’t have another website in it
Step 3: Now check the box and continue. Again this is to make sure that you are not overwriting something important in that location.
Step 4: Click on the Show Advanced Options so you can set up your own username and password. Probably use a different username than “admin” and choose a strong password. Make sure that the Automatically create a new database for this installation option is enabled (unless you already have a database set up that you want to use).
Step 5: Accept the terms and conditions and click on the Install Now button when ready.
When the installation begins, It will show you the status in a progress bar. Once WordPress is fully installed on your account, It will provide you with your site URL, the admin login URL, your username, and password. You will also get a copy of this information (except your password) in your email. Make sure to keep it in a safe place.
Now you can go to the admin login URL, enter your username and password, then click Log In. This will take you to your WordPress dashboard. On this dashboard, you can control everything such as creating pages, writing posts, changing the appearance of your site etc.
That’s all there is to install WordPress on Bluehost. What you might want to do now is log in to Bluehost webmail and set up your email client. Your Bluehost webmail login credentials will be available when you have an email account with them.
